Thanks for that suggestion Jenny. I just had a quick browse at their web site and it looks interesting. Are you in the Queensland Writers Centre? They often have sci fi and fantasy competitions and opportunities listed in their magazine. The Australian Writers Marketplace also mentions some that you might be familiar with; for example, Aurealis Magazine (www.aurealis.com.au), Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine (www.andromedaspaceways.com), AntipodeanSF (www.antisf.com.au) and Ideomancer Speculative Fiction (www.ideomancer.com). I'm not familiar with any of those, so I can't vouch for them, but they might be worth checking out. The Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers' Centre in WA also runs spec fiction competitions. I've entered one, but haven't heard yet. (http://kspf.iinet.net.au/index.php). Good luck with those stories Jenny and thanks for your comment.
Thanks Nola
Yes, I'm a member of QWC - and have heard of Aurealis - will follow up the others :)
Will be interested to know what you think Jenny. I'm not sure what they're like. Take care
