Nola, I'd pick your book off the bookstore shelves for the beauty of the title alone. And you've certainly set yourself a challenge - no easing into this novel-writing for you, hmmm? Still...I have a bit of an idea of how your creative mind might work, just from having known you so long, and you were never going to give us anything shallow. :) Attending to meticulous details while weaving your creative tapestry, with your characters sometimes leading the charge, seems quite your style, my friend. I hope you meet your draft deadline and look forward to reading some more. And I just want to let you know also, that your input into my own life, as far as encouraging me to write, has been absolutely invaluable. You've really helped me get off my backside and stop procrastinating. xx
Aww ... thanks Melinda. Now the pressure's on to come up with a good product :) 'Attending to meticulous details while weaving your creative tapestry'? Um ... that's half the problem. Not only have I set myself a difficult task, but there's so much research to do. I've done enough research to know some major things that affect the story, but there are so many minute details. I just wrote a scene today where two people sat down to a plate of Irish Stew. Was Irish Stew a common dish in Halifax in 1882? Who knows. Once the draft's finished, the fact checking begins in earnest. What was I thinking?
And thanks for your encouragement too, Melinda. Your comments on my blogs and FB posts have encouraged me so much. Take care xx
